Believe, Work, Pray, Excel

St. Hilda’s has a great reputation, built over more than a century, for providing some of the best education in Liverpool. St. Hilda’s was started in 1894 by the Community of the Sisters of the Church. Under their leader Emily Ayckbaum (‘Mother Emily’) they provided top quality education for the children of Liverpool. They had a vision for education built on Christian principles that would open opportunities for life regardless of social background.
Over the years the school grew steadily and relocated several times. We moved to our current site on the edge of Sefton Park in 1967. In 1971 the Sisters handed over the school to be run by the Anglican Diocese of Liverpool.

Today’s world is very different from the world of 1894 and St Hilda’s has grown and adapted with the times. We are proud of our past but always forward-thinking. Nevertheless, we remain true to the Sisters’ original vision. We are committed to learning together in a caring community that nurtures Christian faith and values.
